Team Leaders
The team leader provides an essential link between the management of your organisation and its operational effectiveness. Ineffective team leaders lead to ineffective performance within the teams and can have serious knock-on effects in terms of motivation, discipline and focus.
The typical team leader will be responsible for between six and
twelve team members and will tend to focus on short term goals and the
day to day performance of the team. Communication between the team and
its managers is a key part of a team leader’s role.
The development of team leaders is often overlooked or not considered in enough
detail, normally because an organisation sees more senior managers’ needs
as a greater priority or they do not recognise how essential effective team leaders
are to a successful business.
Your team leaders of today may well be your leaders of the future and it is worth
considering that failure to train them will lead to ineffective practices being
handed down through the organisation rather than being challenged.
The People Development Team can devise programmes that specifically
meet your needs for effective Team Leader performance. This training can be delivered
face-to-face or via e-learning, distance learning
or in any combination of these. Where appropriate your programme can be accredited or endorsed.
Topics covered include:
- Developing yourself as a Team Leader
- Motivating the team to perform
- Fulfilling customer requirements
Level 2 accreditation is available for team leaders in either Award or Certificate formats from either the Institute of Leadership and Management or the Chartered Management Institute. The table below summarises the requirements for each.
