Team Leading Qualification
Level 2
The team leader provides an essential link between the management of your organisation and its operational effectiveness. Ineffective team leaders lead to ineffective performance within the teams and can have serious knock-on effects in terms of motivation, discipline and focus.
Who is a management qualification in Team Leading for?
A typical team leader will be responsible for between six and twelve team members and will tend to focus on short term goals and the day to day performance of the team. Communication between the team and its managers is a key part of a team leader's role.
Flexible content to suit your organisation's needs
The ILM Level 2 qualifications in Team Leading are specially designed to give practising or aspiring team leaders a solid foundation for their formal development as a leader.
They include a diverse range of optional units, allowing organisations to custom build a qualification focusing on the key areas of team leading that are most relevant to their staff development needs (which might well have been identified from a development centre, a training needs analysis or 360° feedback).

- Motivating the team to perform
- Fulfilling customer requirements
- Workplace communication
Award or Certificate?
You can choose either an Award or Certificate at Level 2. The Award is usually run over 3 days and is designed to give learners a basic knowledge of the various roles, functions and responsibilities of a team leader. The mandatory unit 'Developing yourself as a team leader' is a good starting point for team leaders who are new to their roles or for aspiring leaders who wish to gain a solid understanding of the principles and practicalities of team leading.
The Certificate takes longer to complete: it builds and broadens the skills and knowledge gained in the Award. Here, practical techniques in motivating teams, plus planning and monitoring their work are explored within the additional mandatory units.
