What is culture in organisations?

The Oxford Dictionary defines culture as: "the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively... the customs, institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or group" or in this case - your organisation.

What is the importance of culture in the workplace?

Much research has gone into the cultures that organisations cultivate and the impact it has on the organisation's success, image and employees. Whatever the research topic was, a single truth resonates: the customs and behaviours adopted as common practice by organisations determine what will be its critical success factors, what type of people will become successful in it and how it will cope with change.

What is included in our culture programmes?

Culture programmes are bespoke and are adapted for the needs of each organisation, however they are likely to include most of the following areas:

  • Cultural audit - utilising one or more tools that help identify the current success factors as well as areas that might hinder the team or organisation from achieving necessary targets.

  • Developing authenticity and self awareness - learning to recognise and utilise personal attributes to create impact in the business arena.

  • Change management - what brings about change in the workplace and how it effects the culture. Whilst it is easier to learn behaviours than to un-learn them, this topic facilitates discussion on how to instigate change in a positive and constructive way.

  • Leadership energy - learn about what drives you and your team forward, what motivates you and what depletes your sources of energy and how to manage the energy of both your peers and teams.
