Making yourself and others aware of unconscious bias can make for a more inclusive culture and wider pool of talent. So how should organisations tackle it?
Unconscious Bias Programme Awarded Again!
Further congratulations to PDT client State Street Corporation on being recognised as one of The Times Newspaper's UK's Top 50 Employers for Women 2013 and winning The Inclusive Culture Award at Opportunity Now's ten Excellence in Practice 2013 Awards. The award recognised State Street's efforts toward building an inclusive environment, through their Great Minds Don't Think Alike - Unconscious Bias training programme, which was developed and delivered by People Development Team.
Inclusion Programme Awarded "Initiative of the Year"
PDT client State Street was honored at the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)’s Diversity and Leadership in Financial Services Awards 2012 for winning the award, 'Program or Initiative of the Year'. This award is designed to recognise an exemplary programme or initiative that was developed to better the lives and opportunities of internal and/or external stakeholders.
The Global Inclusion programme, 'Building an Inclusive Environment at State Street', was the programme which PDT developed and received this award. This programme encompassed two modules, an e-learning programme, 'WISE: Working Inclusively Supports Excellence', and a webinar, 'Great Minds Don’t Think Alike…Being Conscious of Your Unconscious Bias'. These modules are focused on educating employees on the importance of employee engagement by providing insight on how to overcome challenges in the workplace, and how to change employee behaviors to generate business results.
PDT hosted eighteen 'Great Minds Don’t Think Alike…Being Conscious of Your Unconscious Bias' sessions with more than 600 employees around the world including the senior management population at State Street. More sessions are to be delivered throughout 2013.
