Accreditation

Accreditation forms an important part of the learning process. It recognises the acquisition of learning and, more importantly, the subsequent transfer of learning back into the workplace. Many assessment systems are now far more focused on workplace activity which helps to drive the learning in the workplace as well as drive the organisation to understand how the learning is being applied into business performance.

Our accreditation partners are the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and City & Guilds.

Accredited programmes come in two formats:

  • Nationally Accredited Programmes - these are programmes that are recognised across the UK and in many cases Europe and beyond that use National Standards as the basis of the assessment process. This means that these qualifications act as a common currency, allowing national or multinational organisations to have a benchmark in that is meaningful. In leadership and management the qualifications changed in September 2007and a brief description follows:

    • Unit Accreditation – these recognise skill in a particular job competence, for instance managing meetings or effective leadership and can be collected to provide an individual with:

    • Award – these are shorter, flexible and practical programme with between 20 and 45 hours of learning depending upon the level studied. A Team Leader Award is 20 hours in length whereas a Middle Manager Award is 45 hours long. An award can be upgraded to a:

    • Certificate – these are more intensive and represent the next step in development and will normally represent between 65 and 150 worth of learning. A certificate can be upgraded to a:

    • Diploma – these are more challenging and offer the widest choice for formal development. They are only available at First Line Manager level and above and represent 220 hours of learning.

  • Endorsed Programmes - not every organisation wants or needs to use a national framework for their training. For you, an endorsed programme provides a highly flexible, yet quality assured route to accreditation. Any leadership and management programme can be endorsed by the ILM or the CMI via a simple process that includes quality assurance.

All our endorsed and accredited programmes can combine traditional face to face with e-learning and distance learning.
